Westlake’s Science program provides students with meaningful learning experiences in earth, life and physical sciences resulting in their ability to question, hypothesize, investigate, and explore through experiences in our dedicated Science Laboratory and a challenging curriculum. Field trips, labs, and experiments enhance the curricular offerings and connect concepts to students’ everyday lives. Our desire is to capitalize on the young child’s curiosity to enhance an awareness of the world. When children are learning by doing, they have the opportunity to discover through teacher-facilitated learning. Through our Science program, we help students further understand their work in collaboration and cooperative learning groups with others as well as in their individual work in observing, describing, measuring, predicting, estimating, testing, and recording.
