Regularly scheduled elementary level enrichment classes provide instruction and appreciation in the areas of art, music, integrated technology, and Spanish. Middle School students are offered a variety of electives including: art and music, band and chorus, speech and debate, and teacher's aide. Several musical performances are scheduled throughout the year for elementary and middle school students. Students in 4th-8th grade attend Bible study classes.
The target student teacher ratio for elementary school is 18 to 1; for middle school is 20 to 1. The non-refundable registration /commitment fee of $250 is due with a new student's application. The total enrollment cost for 2009-2010, including materials and textbooks fees, ranges from $6,000 (elementary) to $6,300 (middle school). A discount is offered to families with two or more children enrolled at Westlake Christian School during the same school year.
A Financial Aid Fund has been established by the Board of Education to help families with a portion of the tuition. To apply for financial aid, a family must meet specific financial need guidelines. Typically, a family that would qualify for free or reduced lunch in the public school will be considered. Families may apply for financial aid annually at registration time; deadline to return application is the last week of February for the following school year. Donations for the Financial Aid Fund are received from church members, business partnerships, groups, and individuals. The amount of financial aid awarded and the number of students receiving financial aid depends on the funds available.
Westlake Christian School also honors Florida P.R.I.D.E. Scholarships which are awarded to low-income families for up to $3,950 (per child, per year). For more information, visit
