Westlake is a 21st Century learning environment where technology is integrated into every aspect of school life. Our rich technology resources enhance student learning, improve teacher effectiveness and support parent involvement.

Since 2007, Westlake has used SMART interactive whiteboards to deliver digital lessons that are engaging, fun and effective. Every classroom from 1st-8th Grade is equipped with a SMART Board, and students use handheld SMART Response wireless devices so teachers can instantly track lesson comprehension and assure successful learning.

In addition to the computers present in every classroom, Westlake has two computer labs. The Elementary Computer Lab features thin-client computers networked to a dedicated server. Our mobile Laptop Lab and our fleet of iMac devices are used by our Middle School students. Middle School students are also welcome to bring their own computer to school, and many choose this option.

From Kindergarten through Middle School, Westlake students complete a challenging and fun technical curriculum that meets or exceeds the National Education Technology Standards defined by the International Society for Technology in Education. Westlake graduates enter high school with proven skill in Internet research, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, e-mail and use of technical documentation. Just as importantly, Westlake students learn how to use their skills responsibly and in a way that honors God.

Westlake teachers harness the proven instructional power of high quality video content through our Discovery Education subscription, and our online Accelerated Reader program helps Westlake students develop reading comprehension and vocabulary skill, while allowing parents and teachers to closely monitor student progress.

Westlake parents can access our secure Edline and GradeQuick web sites to view classroom news, download important documents, check homework and track grades. Our broadcast e-mail and phone tree systems help us keep parents informed of breaking news for the Westlake community.
